A while back, I did a post on using the ON1 Effects Dynamic Contrast filter and some of the negative things that come along with it (and how to remove them). Well, in last week’s photo critique on of the images that came up had some extra contrast added in the background and I offered the photographer (Mark Coons) some advice on removing it (even though Mark didn’t really need to because the image was selling already) 🙂

This week our theme is, Earth. It can often be the element that I forget but it can be essential to telling the complete story of the beach. When I think of “earth” I think of the sand, sea grass, driftwood etc. I focus on the details and tell the story of the day at the beach. In this video I will share with you guys a few samples of those details. I will edit a photo taken in driftwood and seagrass. I will show you how to increase the green tones, add a glow and a lens blur. I will also show you how to import your own sky texture to finish off the photo.

Happy August everyone! Blake is our guest coach this month and he has graciously agreed to take on a reverse photo challenge with me. What is a reverse photo challenge? Well, most months we coaches set a photographic challenge for you guys to submit images on a specific theme. In a reverse challenge we turn that on its head and you get to send us on an assignment instead. That’s right, you as a community can challenge us to accomplish some photographic mission and we will each go out and tackle it while creating videos about the process and results. This is the call for you to submit those ideas for the challenge. Anything goes within the realm of the reasonable. Below are a few simple ground rules:
