Happy August everyone! Blake is our guest coach this month and he has graciously agreed to take on a reverse photo challenge with me. What is a reverse photo challenge? Well, most months we coaches set a photographic challenge for you guys to submit images on a specific theme. In a reverse challenge we turn that on its head and you get to send us on an assignment instead. That’s right, you as a community can challenge us to accomplish some photographic mission and we will each go out and tackle it while creating videos about the process and results. This is the call for you to submit those ideas for the challenge. Anything goes within the realm of the reasonable. Below are a few simple ground rules:
This August a total solar eclipse will cross the lower 48 United States for the first time since 1979. It’s a rare event and a unique photographic opportunity. Today, I want to talk about the newest and coolest little tool in my camera bag. It’s the Hoodman Outdoor Loupe and it’s golden. It’s small, lightweight, and lets me work with live view in bright conditions.
It’s long exposure month in Plus and long exposure goes hand in hand with neutral density filters. I always carry neutral density filters with me to control shutter speed. Good ones are perfectly neutral and don’t affect the color of your scene. They’re like dark glasses for your camera and just like dark glasses, some are better than others.

It’s an exciting time in the Henry household! Those of you who’ve been around Plus from the outset might remember that my wife Stacey and I had a little boy we named Pike Henry the winter before last.
