We would like to thank all of our users who have helped us shape ON1 Photo RAW. Thank you for your feedback and patience. We are happy to say we have some updates (one today and one coming soon). Both of these free updates will vastly improve your experience and are just the beginning of the improvements and free updates coming in 2017. The first update, ON1 Photo RAW 2017.0.1 is available today. This is the first maintenance release for ON1 Photo RAW 2017 and you can download the update here.
This is the fourth installment in the Photo RAW Workflow Video Series. In case you missed the first three lessons here they are:
- Introduction to the Workflow Series
- HDR Workflow with Adobe Camera Raw and Photo Raw
- Pano Workflow with Photoshop and Photo RAW
In this lesson, I will show you how to use Advanced Selections in Photoshop to refine the dynamic range in a photograph. We will use Photo RAW to expand the dynamic range in the example photo and then head into Photoshop to refine the image with custom tone and color selections. We will also cover a really quick method for making striking Black and White images using Custom Selections.
Critiques are posted below. Plus watch Hudson & Blake’s critique recap video.
For those who are new to Plus, each month all Plus members have the opportunity to submit a photo for critique. Every single photo submitted gets critiqued by one of the coaches. It’s just another perk of being a Plus member. Photo critiques are a great learning exercise and way to improve your photography. The coaches give their professional constructive critique in a positive manner.
This is the third installment in the Photo RAW Workflow Video Series. In case you missed the first two lessons:
In this lesson, I will show you how I create a vertical Panorama using Photoshop and Photo RAW. The pre-processing work will be done in Photoshop to stitch the images together, and the post-processing work will be completed in Photo RAW. Most of the heavy lifting, or beautifying of the image, will be finalized in Photo RAW.
Challenge Winners Video Included
To get ON1 Plus 2017 off to a fun start, Blake and I decided to set this challenge for you guys. Each Plus community member was invited to prepare one new still life image to submit. We went through them and selected a winner, runner up and honorable mentions. First place won $350. Second place received $150.
ON1 Guru, Blake Rudis, takes us through an entire workflow in this extended video clip. He will show us his classic Tone, Color and Artistic Effects Workflow steps, but with the ON1 Photo RAW spin on it.
This is the second installment in the Photo RAW Workflow Video Series. You can find the introduction video here just in case you missed it.
Send us your RAW files!
By popular demand we are kicking this series back off with a call for submissions from the Plus community. The other coaches and I will select from your RAW images and edit them our way using Photo RAW to produce Your Photo Our Look videos throughout the year. It’s easy to submit. Simply send us a link to your RAW file on your cloud storage service of choice like Dropbox, Google Drive, Apple iCloud, or any other. We’ll be collecting them from the Plus community all year long for this video series.

In the first Lesson of my Photo RAW and Photoshop Workflow I just want to give you a mild introduction. This course is an extension of the first course I did back in April of 2016, Photo Workflow Mastery. The Mastery Course covers the topics of Tone, Color, and Artistic Effects in great detail. It may be a good idea to refer to it for a refresher as those topics will not be covered in as much depth.
I just wanted to take the time to say hello and give you a brief introduction before I guest coach for the month. So here it goes!
I am Blake Rudis of f.64 Academy, and I am passionate about high-quality photography education. I wasn’t always a photo educator, though.
