Hi everyone! The all-new September Photo Critiques are now here! Constructive feedback is a great way to grow your photography skills. In this video, Rick and I  provide the community with tips and pointers for improving their photos both before and after capture. We’ve hand-selected some of the best photos submitted to compliment as well as good teaching examples from multiple skill levels to share tips and tricks.

ICYMI (In case you missed it): Earlier this month we made this announcement:
Quick note from ON1 and me (coach Hudson Henry)
Going forward the monthly photo critiques will be done a little differently, and both ON1 and I believe it will improve the experience for our community as a whole. I’ve been critiquing your images every month since the inception of ON1 Plus. It’s one of my favorite parts of being the year around coach in this community. I enjoy watching the progress and travels of those of you who regularly submit images as well as seeing new members begin actively taking part. I know a great many of you through these critiques and our discussion forums.
ON1 Plus has grown tremendously since we first started launched, beyond our wildest dreams. The community has now reached a size where if we promote submission to the individual critiques the workload for those of us coaching is unsustainable. However, we believe we have come up with a good solution that will bring equal value to you as members.
The good folks here at ON1 and I have come up with a plan to that will spice up the monthly critiques and make them more inclusive at the same time. Each month my great friend Rick LePage and I will each select a high number of images from that month’s community critique gallery and create a custom video where we will critique and discuss them together. We will not focus solely on promoting the best work, and we’ll strike a balance across the spectrum of skill levels and be sure to include a significant number of teaching examples alongside some truly exceptional work. From time to time other guest coaches will join us as well to share their critique of the images submitted that month.
If you do not know him, my friend Rick publishes Complete Digital Photography and is not only a great photographer himself but also a passionate student of all things photographic from history to technology and everything in-between. He’s also a fantastic human being. Some of you have met him in workshops of mine that he has joined to help teach. Whenever I run workshops, daily critiques are a critical component and Rick and I have developed an excellent rapport when jointly discussing the merits and shortcutting of images and how to improve them.
This shift will not only let us heavily promote the monthly community critiques to increase participation and interaction, but it will also allow us to once again do fun things like critique themes, challenges, and contests. There will still be monthly videos filled with your image critiques by Rick and me, but they will be higher quality from an educational as well as an entertainment aspect. Wait till you hear Rick and myself discussing images later this month, and you’ll see what I mean.
I’ve learned that the one constant we can expect in life is change. The challenge for us in Plus is to steer that change in positive ways as the community grows and I believe this shift in the way we do monthly critiques will be a very positive, energizing and exciting change for the community and us coaches. Now go submit your favorite photo!
Sincerely,
Hudson Henry and ON1 team
