Hey everyone. I’ve been having an absolute blast playing with Photo RAW 2021. It’s been rock solid on both my Macbook Pro and my Desktop PC and I really am enjoying the completely reworked Portrait app as well as some cool new power in the local adjustments panel. In this video I’ll show you what I mean.

This was actually with an alpha and it’s been running great.
Ha, that’s what Matt K said years ago when he first met Stacey. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. The kids and are the luckiest humans on earth to have her.

Thank you Hudson, at first i didn’t understand the too much use of the retouch brush instead of perfect brush (i always prefer to erase many distraction on a picture), but use as you do with a new layer is awesome and i never think about before.
Thanks for tips and videos and i wait On1 2021 (preorder days ago) to use the Portrait Ai at full potential with the new version of On1.

You are great Hudson. ON1 is great. BUT..
ON1 missed the mark with version 2020 and it seem that they have missed the mark again with version 2021. Granted, if I were a portrait photographer, 2021 has some great improvements. I happen to be a landscape and nature photographer and 2020 and 2021 have done very little for me. It seem as though our friends at ON1 have spent so much time on 360 and Sync that they have little time for Photo RAW.
Now that they have released 360 and Sync, hopefully, they will have time to get back to Photo RAW. They might even want to consider an update early in 2021 to make up for the new stuff that they missed in original version 2021.
It is obvious that they are struggling. At this point in the past, a BETA version was available and we had a date for the new version. This year, no such luck.

I tried portait AI stand-alone as I pre ordered 2021, and I loved to play with it, but was not able to work with it as I do not have all ON1 tools around to finalise my retouching work.
So I’m now impatient to have the 2021 release version ! Do you know when 2021 will be available?

Lots of people are asking about the Beta. However, it seems to me that ON1 has recently decided to change their normal practices for the better.
A couple of months ago now, and on the Plus Forums, ON1 asked for volunteers to test the Alpha version of PR 2021. The people who are taking part, are subject to a non disclosure agreement.
Fingers crossed, when they launch PR 2021, it should be much more developed than were the previous Beta versions. And, personally, I’m content to wait until PR 2021 is actually well beyond the Beta stage. Still looking forward to it 🙂

Was expecting an overall explanation of 2021 which has some amazing features in Browse Module not mentioned.
Perhaps a retitle of this very fine video tutorial to ‘2021 Portrait Tutorial’ would be more accurate

I always enjoy watching the tutorials you post for On 1 Plus Members. I noticed that like myself, many would like to know when On 1 Raw 2021 will be released. Can you give us a hint ? This is like torture !!! (ok, I exaggerate a little, but not that much !)… Will it be only in 2021 ? Will it be our Xmas present ??? Please, give us an approximation ! And thank you again for the tutorials and tips and all the perks that come with On 1 Plus !

One new tool being touted is the “spot-healing brush”. I wonder if you could show how this differs from the “Perfect eraser” and when you would use one over the other.

Hi. As a new user of ON1 Raw & Portrait AI and to using more serious editing programs, I’m still on a large learning curve. I found your video very thought provoking and like others well presented. To say, like John earlier, you could have done this video in 3 minutes, for me and I feel many others, is not a useful comment. Apart from showing me how useful Portrait AI is … I found your comments very instructive in understanding how you chose to edit your photograph of Stacey and the reasons why you wished to achieve that certain look. It has certainly helped me to be more thoughtful about my approach to editing and to think more seriously about how I want my final images to look too. Thank you.

Hudson, another great lesson, on a super product. Really enjoy the lessons, and the end work is always spectacular…. of course now I want to start work with the update like yesterday. 2021 looks like a great tool to have that will bring out the best in all of us. I just got a chance to watch the video. Well done! I don’t do a lot of portraits, so this tool will come in handy for those shots where my lack of practices shows. I am very interested in what On1 has done with the editing tools. I continue to use PS because it’s hard to beat. I have nothing against Adobe, but it would be nice to have some professional grade options available without needing to switch editors for those tricky edits. I am looking forward to see how On1 interprets what many of us have requested since day one. Keep up the good work and take care of your beautiful family! Be safe!

A very informative video. I appreciate the “deeper” dive into the less obviously ways to unleash the power of ON1. I have become an ambassador for ON1 for anyone that will listen. It has taken my photography to a higher level. Thanks. On a technical level for the video, I highly recommend you suggest to your video editor (maybe you) to apply some improvements to your audio track. Suggesting you apply voice EQ to your audio, and very importantly, a “loudness” (compression/leveling) also. Easy to do with Final Cut Pro X or most modern video editor. It will be MUCH easier to follow.
