ON1 News – September 2018
Monthly news, direct from ON1 and ON1 Partners. September 2018.
Hi everybody, I am Colin Smith and I am really excited to be spending this month with you. I have a number of things I want to share with you this month. First, a little bit about myself, I like to go out and shoot—a lot! I love going different places, and photograph different things. I also love talking about new technology and gear. This month I’ll be using ON1 to enhance my photos and share my workflow with you.
Lighting is one of the essential elements of photography. It will make or break a photo. Whether it’s natural light or artificial lighting, as photographers, we are continually chasing great lighting for our next images. The good thing is that it is all around us whether it’s coming from the sun or light bulbs in your house. Our job is to take that light and apply it in interesting ways to highlight our subjects. From people to mountains to food, everything looks better with a little light.

It’s time to submit your images for the November Photo Critiques. The deadline is midnight PST next Tuesday, November 13th. If you haven’t yet offered photos for critique, I urge you to consider participating. There is no better way to improve your photography than to share your work and be critiqued by objective peers — and yes, that excludes spouses, parents, and children. We’re excited to see your images from all over the world roll into this month’s gallery. It’s an open critique, so send in any genre or style you like.
