Wagtail at the River’s Edge
This White Wagtail was spotted along the riverbank at dusk. I noticed the bird foraging among the wet stones and approached slowly and carefully until I was close enough to capture it perched on a smooth river stone, with the water flowing around it. Getting that close without disturbing the bird is what I’m most proud of.
Post processing notes:
Edited in ON1 Photo RAW 2026. I kept the crop minimal, leaving enough space around the bird to show the river environment. I darkened the bottom of the frame and added a slight vignette to draw attention to the bird. I used Dynamic Contrast to bring out the feather detail, then balanced the exposure on the bird to keep it from being overexposed. Finally, I used Color Mixer and Color Grading to fine-tune the overall color palette.Exif information:
