Limpkin chick vs. a boat-tailed grackle
This winter a group of limpkins settled on our side of Lake Hernando in west central Florida. In mid-April a pair of adult limpkins and six chicks emerged next to our dock. The chick in this image, about five weeks old when I got this shot, was chasing away a grackle from the chick’s feeding area.
