Bald Head Roost
Each sunset, local birds come roost at a pond on Bald Head Island. As the light fades, the birds settle and the light becomes dimmer, making photographs challenging. This bird is a Great Egret (Ardea alba) in its spectacular breeding plumage.

Photo taken with Sony ILCE-7M4, FE 100-400 mm lens, ISO 4000, 1/1000/F 5.6. I used On1 2026 to highlight the details in the feathers, and used NoNoise AI sharpening to reduce grain. I love the "Big Softy" Vignette filter to highlight the subject. I also used On1 to add my own watermark to the photo.Exif information:
