America’s 250th!
We planned a trip through the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. I was sad that I missed a photo of a bald eagle on the beach as we made our way towards Cape Flattery. We arrived at the Neah Bay / Makah Reservation Harbor to find a DOZEN or more bald eagles enjoying their morning breakfast. I put my iPhone down and grabbed my Canon 7D MkII and my 100-400 mm L glass and stood in awe while I took 300 images! I have only just started to take a look through them but every single one makes me smile. Watch the pure simple majestic character of these birds was worth the entire trip!
Post processing notes:
The sky was very boring on an overcast gray day, but I was so proud the birds were sharp! With the gray background, the birds had a lot of shadow on them, so brightening them up and increasing their shadow was the first step. Brightening up the entire image by about a 1/2 stop also helped. Using the sky replacement, I chose something simple that was not out of the ordinary on a somewhat clearer day. Cropped in a little on the eagle Brough his detail to life!Exif information:
