Dawn over Pinto Basin
After arriving at the Cholla Cactus Garden in Joshua Tree National Park in the middle of the night for a Milky Way shot, we decide to stay until dawn. We were rewarded with a beautiful image of color from the approaching dawn over Pinto Basin, along with the triangle of the moon, Venus, and Jupiter in the sky. This was completely happenstance
Post processing notes:
The image is a composite of 2 images taken on the morning of April 27, 2022 at the Cholla Cactus Garden in Joshua Tree National Park. I used an Olympus E-M1 Mark II with a 12-40mm zoom lens at 16mm. For the sky, the image was 4s at f/3.2 ISO 800, while the foreground was 2.5s at f/4, ISO 400. I enhanced the foreground using dynamic contrast, and removed some distracting road signs. The color of the sky was enhanced, and some additional contrast using curves was applied between the light and the dark portions of the sky.Exif information:
