Reflection
Located in Yoho National Park in British Columbia, Canada, this is the single lane bridge that crosses the southwestern bay on Emerald Lake, between the parking lot and the main lodge on Emerald Lake. The shot, a single long exposure, was taken at the very tail end of blue hour and required trudging thru 3 to 5 feet of snow for about 30 yards off the road. I didn’t want this to be such a tight shot on the bridge and the building on the right, however, there were other photographers on the left side that I was trying to not get into the scene (they weren’t willing to go as far back into the snow as I was). Taken the evening of March 17th. It was a struggle to decide how much refection on the water to get and how much sky to sacrifice and find some type of balance. Only 45 minutes earlier, the air was much clearer and one could see the mountainside on the other end of the lake opposite the bridge, which probably would have made for a much more interesting backdrop than the fogged in scene that I got while waiting for blue hour, which only lasts a short 15ish minutes that time of year.
Shot on a Nikon Z8, Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 G2 lens (with FTZ II adapter), 20s exposure, ISO 250, f/11.
