Iced In
The boat house at Lake Louise in Banff National Park sits silently next to the snow covered frozen water on a cold overcast mid March 2026 evening. Fairview Mountain rises above it in the background.
Shot with a Nikon Z8, Tamron 24-70mm f/2.9 G2 lens (with FTZ II adapter), 10s exposure, ISO 100, f/11.

Post processing notes:
Edited with On1 2026.4.
Being new to advanced editing, I let the app do most of the heavy lifting for me ... this image was post processed with Develop / Brilliance AI, I used ON1 Vivid as a Tone Profile and made minor adjustments to the image as a whole. In the Local tab, I made minor adjustments to the BrillianceAI Flora mask which mostly affected the lower ridge trees behind the boat house. I did try to isolate the boat house to bring up the brightness of only the wood structure of the house, however, I had difficulty isolating the snow on the roof from the lit up side of the boat house, so I left it be as the camera caught it. In the Effects tab, I added the Color Enhancer, Tone Enhancer and Dynamic Contrast effects, however the latter effect caused the snow on the trees to stick out too much so I dropped it, made minor adjustments with the other two. Overall, I wanted this picture to show the dark cold damp moodiness of the still night.
