Bald Eagle Feeding Chick in Nest — Katmai National Park
I’ve visited this eagle’s nest several times over the years in Katmai National Park in Alaska. The nest is perched on a rocky ledge near the top of a cliff, so it’s well-protected from land predators. You can walk/climb up to the top of the cliff, though, via a steep grizzly bear trail from the beach at the base. And from the top, you can look down at the nest and take photos without disturbing the birds. We all need to ensure that we don’t disrupt wildlife behavior when photographing. This mature eagle calmly fed the chick, and it gave zero indication that it even knew I was there.
