Tropical Kingbird in Izamal, Yucatan, Mexico 4Dec2025

It’s a perfect bright sunny day on Dec. 4, 2025, in Yucatan, Mexico, and we are climbing up and down a gigantic Mayan pyramid with my brand new Lumix G9 Mark II camera, with a huge telephoto lens. At the base of the pyramid, we are surrounded by lush rainforest, and my sister says, “Look at that beautiful yellow bird looking right at us!” It was far away, about 50 yards, I could barely see it with my naked eye, but my trusty, Leica 100-400 F4.0-6.3 telephoto lens captured it beautifully.
