Male Stonechat

This photo was taken on Skomer Island off the Pembrokeshire Coast, Wales. The males like to perch high on a branch or twig to proclaim and defend their territory. The photo was taken around mid day in August at the height of the breeding season

Editing notesThe photo was taken using a Panasonic compact camera in 16:9 format. I tightly cropped at 1:1 to centre the bird and remove twigs and branches in the lower part of the photo. I used No Noise Ai to remove the noise in the sky. Added the sharpening and dynamic contrast filter to enhance the bird. In develop I reduced the exposure and increase the midtons and shadows to bring out more detail in the bird. Due to the crop the resulting image was very small so I used Resize to finish.
