Basilica of St. Matthew Trier

Early in the morning on an summer morning in August 2025 I took a walk to the nearby Basilika. I like the retrained clear Romanic style of the architecture. My Pentax K-1 II together with the DFA 24-70 f 2.8 is my universal tool for such a quick walk-by.
However, a Romanic church will never be enlightend as a Gothic Cathedral. I wanted to give the church a more eerie mood.

Editing notesI made some basic adjustments first, by using the lens correction and the transformation tool, as to straighten the whole building. As to achieve the new lighting goal, a then new filter came in real handy. I changed the lighting completely with depth lighting. I toned down the foreground and relighted the Apsis of the basilca with a bright, warm light. Some small tonal adjustments wer the applied. As to focus the attention in my 24mm shot, my last change was the application of the big softy vignette.
