I’m amazed after all these years there is so much diversity in workflows. All the variable ways people download, organize and edit means if you talk to another photographer about their workflow, chances are it is different than yours. It’s not just in the software or equipment we use. Some of us organize by date, others by client or subject. Some shoot RAW, some JPG, some both. Some of us rename, others don’t.
In ON1 Photo RAW, the Adjustment Brush and Adjustable Gradient filters from Effects will be full-fledged tools you can access and edit in any module. These will be part of the shared tools like Crop, Retouch, Perfect Eraser and Clone that will be available and re-editable, nondestructively, in Develop & Effects. In the tool-well on the left you see icons for the Adjustment Brush and Adjustable Gradient tools. At the top in the tool-options are are the familiar controls for adjusting brush size, opacity, feather, etc. On the right you see two tabs below the navigator; Overall Settings and Local Adjustments. Overall Settings is what you see today in Photo 10, the control panes or filters that affect the entire photo.
Hopefully you’ve found the Photo RAW Project by now and have been engaging with our discussions on all of the great ideas. Hi everyone! We know you’re all excited get your hands on the new ON1 Photo RAW app we’ve been busy building for you. Our developers are working very hard and things are coming together nicely.
Most of us have more than one computer we work on our photos with. I have an iMac I use at home for my main editing. It has a beautifully huge display. It’s where my photos live.
I also have a laptop I use when traveling, or when I want to sit on the couch. There are lots of ways to get your photos on both computers. I use Dropbox but there are lots of other great and inexpensive cloud syncing solutions (Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, etc). Most of this storage is darn-near free. If you have an Office 365 account they give you 1TB of OneDrive for free. Same thing if you have Amazon Prime, you get unlimited free Amazon Cloud Drive storage. Cloud storage is great. It gives you an online backup you can access anywhere and automatically manages keeping your photos in sync across multiple devices.
Hey everybody. As many of you know I spent a good part of the summer of 2013 as the cinematographer/still-photographer for An American Ascent, a documentary film on Denali (previously Mount Mckinley). It’s toured the festival circuit and garnered a number of awards over the past year.
For photographers who photograph people, retouching faces can be a big part of their workflow. However, the amount or style of retouching and the tools and techniques used vary. Like any creative adjustment, the amount or style of retouching changes from artist to artist and can even change over time based on the trending look. Haven’t you noticed the style of retouching has shifted to be a more natural, subtle adjustment over the past five years or so? Just a few years ago everyone had porcelain smooth skin and snow-white teeth. This also reminds me of the parallels with HDR. A few years ago HDR was over-the-top with crazy contrast and color. Today it’s a more refined style.
Hi all! I wanted to give you a quick update about ON1 Plus now that we are half way through the year. I’ve enjoyed all the great questions, posts, videos, and conversations I’ve had in this community and wanted to give a sneak peek about what’s coming the rest of this year, and next!
As a landscape photographer you can mostly control the places you photograph, the time of day, and season, but that’s about it. You can’t control weather, air pollution, and many other factors. Haze in the air, causing atmospheric distortion, is a common problem and a tough one. Particulate in the air, whether from smoke, pollen, pollution or water vapor, creates haze. The amount of haze increases the farther away the subject is and can create layers of haze. There are a few tools to help reduce haze when you’re shooting, like UV/Haze filters and Polarizers. Often times they only provide a little help. With software, you can increase the contrast to help cut through the haze but it can negatively impact the darker tones if you’re not careful. A few photo editing software providers have developed special controls for reducing haze.
