Small but Mighty
I photographed this scene near the Danube Delta after noticing that a group of European ground squirrels had suddenly become extremely agitated. Something was racing through the grass at remarkable speed, and only moments later I realized it was a stoat. Despite being much smaller than its prey, the stoat had successfully captured a ground squirrel and was carrying it back to its den, where its kits were waiting. I am particularly proud that I managed to capture this brief and fast-paced moment, as the encounter lasted only a few seconds.
