I happen to have a color photo I took of the Snake River from the approximate Ansel Adams location and then applied the Adams color match. Wow! It was an unbelievable result. I was trying to apply the color match to a black and white manipulation of the original color photo and got terrible results. Your clear description of the steps within Color Match applied against the original color photo was spot on. I didn’t realize the photo didn’t need to be converted to black and white before applying a black and white color match.

Hi Dylan
Suggestions for possible future videos..
(1)Black Light
This is a technique for lighting up glassware. The end result is best developed as a black & white image.
Set up a large Black Card. Put the glassware in front f the Black Card. Set up a pair of lights, on either side of the card. (Such as a pair of cheap LED panel lights and diffusers).
Set up the camera on a tripod, and look through the viewfinder. Compose a shot that includes the glassware and the Card, but excludes the lights.
(2)Light Painting
Set up camera, low ISO, small aperture, so that shutter stays open for a few seconds. (Longer the better).
Get a coloured torch or an LED wand. Then draw pattens in the darkness.
Can also place a subject, and draw around them.
Helps if the background is dark and the light painters should also wear dark clothing, gloves, hats, etc.

It was odd to see you adjust the sliders after every one of these as it sort of suggests that the match color filter doesn’t get it right on its own. So I went and tried it out and realized that the match color filter doesn’t do what I thought it did. Instead, it preloads the color from the reference analysis but it doesn’t make adjustments of its own, it lets you then use the filter as you see fit. It picks the colors from the reference but you choose how to apply them with the four sliders. Works great.

Hi Dylan:
I like the way, how you you explain it. There is no product placement, camera, Backpack, or hour-long explanation of how wonderful the last trip was. Thank you Dylan.
