Young Moose at Denali National Park, Alaska

This photo was taken at the Visitor’s Center at Denali National Park in July, 2022. My husband and I had been walking on a path outside at the park’s Visitor’s Center when a large female moose came barreling out of the woods on the side of the path, within inches of us. She was soon followed by this youngster of hers. I was standing about 4 to 6 feet away and zoomed in with my camera’s telephoto lens and captured this photo of the youngster. as it came out of the woods I was taken by the intensity of its gaze as it came out of the woods, ready to cross the path to where its mother was grazing on tree leaves. It was exciting to be so close to both its mother and to this youngster.
