The Badlands
We pulled into our campsite after dark. When I woke up this is what I saw and felt compelled to capture the scene. I took this pano handheld without the use of a tripod and my indexing head. ON1 Raw did an excellent job of stitching together the numerous photos despite all being handheld. I used resize to make a 10 1/2 X 39” print and it kept the detail just fine. I could go larger. The print looks almost like a charcoal sketch without the use of effects.
Post processing notes:
I converted to B&W did some tone adjustments and used Ai sharpening and noise reduction. I cropped out some of the foreground and use creative erasure to remove a dead tree on the left of the photo so I could keep that portion of the rock outcropping. I used masking on the sky so I could increase the contrast and exposure of the clouds. Olympus E-M5 Mark III with a 45mm f/1.8 M.Zuiko lens. The resized image is 42.4 MB. Take 6/20/2025 @ 6:47 am.
