Snowy Plovers resting

This photo was taken at a distance with a long telephoto lens at the ocean beach near Newport, Oregon, during the winter season (1/29/2025). At this time of year these endangered, but non-nesting, Snowy Plovers tend to congregate on coastal beaches. These are the favorite birds of a close friend who likes to imagine holding them in the palms of her hands.
