Scarred History Reflected
In Northumberland, England there is an impressive and one of the highest sections of Harian’s Wall (construction between 122-138 AD). Here sadly, quarrying began in 1902. In 1960 after a long preservation campaign, the quarrying stopped and the site was protected for its historical importance. It is now called Cawfields Quarry Reservoir. At dusk, as we were making our way down from exploring the wall I noticed the striking scene created by the beautiful lighting. I was mesmerized by the clouds and quarry face reflected in the water.

Post processing notes:
I initially did a quick 'Drama' adjustment in Snapseed. I then flipped it into ON1 Photo Raw 2026 for the rest of the editing process. I adjusted the lighting a bit in the Develop Module. I then applied a surreal style in Dynamic Contrast. From there I adjusted the color trying to bring out the red in the rock. I lessened the saturation a smidge as it ended up looking almost unreal even though it was seriously otherworldly looking in its natural coloring. I also erased a few bugs that appeared as blurs in the clouds making it a little distracting.Exif information:
