Portrait of a Dama Dama free roaming in the AWD, Netherlands
This photo has been taken in the Amsterdamse Waterleiding Duinen in the Netherlands on a sunny day in July 2024. This dune area is used to purify drinking water but is also a nature reserve. Fallow deer, among other animals, roam freely here. They are used to people but keep their distance. It was my first time here and I saw this male and his group foraging. I went slowly to them, sat down, and studied them from a distance until they got used to me. Then I got slowly closer and could make some stunning pics of him and his group. It was an unforgettable moment, being trust by these beautiful animals which allowed me, for a moment, in their present.

This photo is edited in PhotoRaw 2024. I have applied the usual edits for RAW-images such as WB, NR, Blacks/Whites etc. and slightly cropped the image. Also I removed a few branches exactly above the antlers and applied a couple of filters like Dynamic Contrast and Sunshine.Exif information:
