Moon and Jupiter at Smith Rock
This image was shot October 11 2018 at Smith Rock State Park near Terrebonne OR. At 7:29 pm. I had recently attended the Oregon Star Party out at Prineville Res. A dark sky park. I learned how to shoot stars there . I was testing out a Sony a7s with the Sony 70-300mm G lens. My original intention was to capture the setting sun light on the distant snow covered mountains. As it turned out the sunlight on the mountains was all in shadow. Then as darkness progressed this image presented itself. The brilliant sliver of the moon lighted by the sun reflecting off the earth along with Jupiter with it’s 4 moons.
Sony a7s, Sony 70-300mm G, shot at 220mm, F5.6, 1.6sec, ISO 2500. -0.7ev White balance to shade.
Post processing notes:
ON1 post processing. Reduced the highlights, to bring out more of the moon. Reduce the contrast to also bring out more of the moon. Increased the saturation just a touch to improve the color. Actually not much was done to the image, just a little bit as described.Exif information:
