Grumpy & Lala
Both are adopted: Grumpy—the cat—has been wary of contact with any living being since he was a kitten, while Lala—the Lab—is always friendly and loves to sleep, just like others of her breed. It took them some time to hit it off, but this is one of their best moments together: Lala is resting peacefully at home, and Grumpy, realizing I was taking a photo, leans against her, seeking her protection.

This photo was taken with a Canon R5 camera using manual settings: f/5.6 at 1/5 of a second.
It was processed in ON1 Photo RAW MAX 2026.
The "Dynamic Contrast" preset was used as a base to help separate the lighter tones.
Local adjustments were applied to add a bit more light to the cat's eyes.
Sharpening was applied to bring out the texture of the fur.
A touch of glow was added to the entire image to create a portrait-like look, while preserving the natural grain.
