Glore Lily
On June 13, 2026, my sister and I walked out of the Glore Psychiatric Hospital Museum in St. Joseph, MO, carrying the weight of everything we had just seen. The history inside those walls is brutal, intimate, and impossible to shake off quickly. Just outside, near the parking area, this lily was growing — bright, open, and impossibly cheerful against the heaviness we felt. It became an unexpected mental palette cleanser, a small act of kindness from the world after seeing the real remnants of so much suffering. Post processing notes:
I used only ON1 Photo Raw 2026 for my edits. Applying tone and contrast adjustments in the development stage, cropping and adding depth effects on the background along with a glow and vignette effect. Lastly, a small amount of color grading in an effort to demonstrate the brightness and true color seen on that day and the feeling it evoked.Exif information:
