This image of a Dark-eyed Junco was taken during a January snowstorm in Wisconsin (2024). The normally quick-moving bird paused for a moment and offered a great pose that makes this image work.

Post processing notes:

The image was edited in ON1 Effects 2026 with the main adjustment being the addition of a couple layers of snow (sticking filter) to emphasize the snow that was falling in the original scene. Additional adjustments were made with the sunshine, dynamic contrast, and depth lighting filters.
