Crown vetch with morning dew
I took this photo on June 20, 2026 while walking through Sandy Bottom Nature Park in Hampton, VA. The morning dew was heavy on the ground. I hunted around until I found this crown vetch in a spot where I could see it backlit with a mostly dark background. I lay on the ground and took the photo. I used aperture mode with F14, ISO 320, EV -0.7, 1/160s on a Sony A7R5 with a 100 mm F2.8 Macro lens that I just got.
Post processing notes:
I used ON1 Photo Raw Max 2026. I cropped the photo and used the perfect eraser to eliminate a blemish on the flower and a background distraction. I started with Brilliance AI for tone and color adjustments, then modified them to get the right contrast between the flowers and background without any blown highlights. Local adjustments were used to selectively brighten petals that were shaded and to darken some of the background stems. The Dynamic contrast effect was applied to the flowers, and a subtle vignette added.Exif information:
