Aurora Borealis over Northwestern Ontario
Every fall, when nights arrive earlier, I monitor aurora apps for strong viewing opportunities. The display on September 14, 2025, was the most spectacular I’ve seen in years. I walk to the secluded, darkened area at the back of my island in Canada and begin taking photos. This year, the lights danced directly above me, erupting across the sky like brilliant explosions. Camera is a Nikon D850, Lens is Tokina 11-16 (16mm). ISO 320, Shutter 10 sec, F 2.8, tripod.
