Surprise Departure at Finger 1
At the end of the day’s shoot, I checked one more location and spotted a Great Blue Heron, busy at work. Taking care not to make eye contact and thereby spook the bird, I walked on past, stopped, and slowly positioned my monopod-mounted camera for the capture. Just then, two people entered the scene, saw me aiming my camera, stopped, and stared at the Heron. This alarmed the big bird, and to the air the heron catapulted. Fortunately, I had him in focus, and I took this shot.
