View on Ezinge
As many other villages in the North of the Netherlands Ezinge is built on an artificial dwelling mound. The village has around 690 inhabitants and the church dates back to the early 13th century. The area was inhabited much earlier. Excavations around the village have revealed the remains of 85 farms and 60 outbuildings from the period 600 BC to the 5th century AD.
This history and pictures I’ve seen of the whole area made me visit the village in March of this year. It was a cold spring day and very quiet. Walking the narrow old streets on the mound and the absence of people or cars made me feel I travelled ages back in time.
The composition I made is from the side where the view on the church is the best. It also gives the impression that you can only reach the mound via a county road. Because is was early in the year there were no leaves on the trees yet and the floor contained little color. Also I wanted to create a painterly look in order to distinguish my picture from other of the same church.
Post processing notes:
Post processing is exclusively done in Photo Raw and contains the step below. Brilliance AI for all parts of the photo. This was a great starting point. Develop: Profile On1 Landscape. Added a bit of exposure, contrast an structure. Highlights, Whites and Blacks dialed back. Layers: In all parts (sky, water, flora, etc) vibrance was added and structure increased further. Most it was generated by Brilliance AI. I increased the temperature a bit in order to make them stand out again the rest a bit more. This is a trick I use regularly for the main subject, often combined with lowering the temperature of the less essential parts of the photo. Effects: I added dynamic contrast for the architecture and the natural ground (Large 30). The color enhancer was used the get more details in the natural ground: more yellow, darken the greens and denatured the oranges. In order to get the painterly look I experimented with textures and chose Metal from the category Earth. I decided to use the default settings. Final touch was a vignette and what else to use than Big Softy?Exif information:
