The Sun on April 20, 2025
What you see is the mosaic of 56 original pictures stitched together to create a full-disk image of the sun in H-Alpha. The image is the result of a half-hour imaging session Potsdam, Germany, in the morning. I love how this final image highlights the many sunspots, filaments and protuberances on the sun that day.
Post processing notes:
Solar post-processing can involve many steps since they're the result of videos. First, the frames have to "stacked" in AutoStakkert 4, which means that the ones with the best quality are picked and form one image each. Then image clarity is improved in Registax 6 for each of the 56 images. Afterwards, Photoshop merges all pictures into one, the highlights, shadows, exposure etc. are adjusted, it gets colorized (the images are originally grayscale!) and ON1 NoNoise AI 2024 puts the cherry on top and achieves the sharpness you see in the image.
