Summer evening flight by the Eurasian Eagle Owl.
The Eurasian Eagle Owl (Bubo bubo) in its natural habitat during one summer evening at the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress in Helsinki, Finland. This is a very large and powerful owl with deep orange eyes, and finely streaked pale buffy underparts. Active mainly at night. I was indeed lucky that I was at the right place at the right time for this beautiful shot of this amazing raptor in flight. They do not fly often during daylight. Patience is the keyword to be able to get a shot of this owl in flight.
The exposure may be a challenge under similar lighting circumstances in direct sun light and strong shadows on the subject, like in this particular case, so one need to make sure to not blowing out details in the white parts of the feathers.

The raw file was processed in ON1 Photo Raw Max 2025, adjusting shadows, hightlights and some other minor tweaks to bring out natural authentic and beautiful elements of this amazing owl. The edited raw file was saved to Jpeg.Exif information:
