Schism
This started out as an image from my iPhone of a simple stream flowing through snowy banks, but I saw some abstract possibilities. I cropped out some extraneous background, then simplified both the snow and the stream. Then I flipped it vertically so the small end was at the bottom, and finally did an under-layer of red that I selectively revealed by a manually ‘scribbled’ mask. In my eyes, it is now thoroughly abstract, and the title suggests my emotional response to it.
