Last Voyage of RV HERO
Photo was taken in 1984 near Palmer Station Antarctica (Antarctic Peninsula) with an Olympus OM-1 film camera using Kodachrome 400 slide film. I was fortunate to be a young scientist working at Palmer Station and on the Research Vessel HERO. The HERO was a wooden hulled ship designed for research in the Antarctic. At the end of 1984 research season the ship was decommissioned and I was on board for the last trip across the Drake Passage enroute to Chile. I merged the photo of the HERO taken on a foggy/snowy day late in the season with one of the many iceberg photos I took during 1984.
