Jumping PBR Bull
This photo was taken on January 26, 2004, at New York City’s Madison Square Garden and the Professional Bull Riders’ “Monster Energy Buck Off at the Garden”. In the event professional bull riders attempt to stay seated on a bucking bull as the bull attempts to dislodge the rider from its back in an 8 second ride. As publisher and photographer for MetroSports Magazine, I captured this image from the arena floor as the bull jumped several feet into the air trying to dislodge the rider.
Post processing notes:
The final image shown here was processed using ON1 Photo Raw 2024 and adjusted with the HDR filter, the Dynamic Contrast filter, the Glow filter, and the Noise Reduction filter (necessary since the ISO was set at 4000 and the Dynamic Contrast filter imparted some granularity). If this was taken in 2025, I would have used the No Noise AI. When I shoot sports on dirt arenas and fields, I find that the Dynamic Contrast filter greatly enhances the spray of dirt which so greatly adds to the final image.Exif information:
