Great Blue Herons, Wisconsin
There is a Great Blue Heron Rookery, just north of the interstate between Madison And Milwaukee (just east of Johnson Creek) in Wisconsin. One afternoon (around 3pm), I finally had the time to stop and take some photos. However the police did not like me stopping on the interstate, and told me I needed to leave. Fortunately I managed a number of photos, and this was the best that day. Being mid-afternoon the light was not optimal, so I converted to the image to black and white.
Photo taken March, 2021, with a Panasonic DC -G9, with the Lumix Leica 100-400mm lens, at 400mm; ISO 400, f7.1, 1/200s.
Post processing notes:
All the processing was completed using a Mac, in On1 using standard processing tools - Starting with Develop Tone and color, and then effects including Dynamic Contrast, Curves, and Convert to Black and white. Prints are produced on an Epson Surecolor P800.Exif information:
