It was a hot Day, battling heat haze across the track resulting in blurry images.
My only option was to sweet talk the officials to let me onto the mid-field of the track (usually not allowed).
Squatting next to a Marshal, I got some clean shots across the grass and closer to the subjects than usual.
It turned out well, pin sharp images using my Sony A9 + Sigma 150-600mm DG DN @ 600mm. 1/350sec f/11 ISO 500.
Post processing notes:
Very bright day with a midday Sun, so a high-contrast RAW out of camera. Bike and rider were in shadow, but with some purposeful editing with Photo Raw, I was able to bring out the shadow detail to the point where you can see the riders face (concentration) through the dark tinted visor. Incredible shadow recovery! ON1 Photo Raw 2024. - Local Luminosity Mask with Shadow & Blacks reduced. - Super Select AI Masking on the subject -> Raising shadows, adjusting Tones and Saturation, enhancing the foreground motorcycle and rider to the point where they 'pop' from the main scene. - Subtle use of Tack Sharp & Noise Reduction AI - Dynamic Contrast added - General Tone adjustments of the overall scene - No additional LayersExif information:
