This is a wild mustang mare of Spanish decent photographed at Mowdy Ranch in SE Oklahoma. Beautiful and powerful, this mare ran towards me and then stopped for a look at me while I was looking at her through the lens. I have many images of the mares running and kicking up their heels, but I loved the interaction in this moment with the beautiful, white mare. You see her Spanish, Andalusian fiery bloodline.
I used a Nikon Z7 with a Tamron 70-300 f4.5 lens.

Post processing notes:
I use On1 Photo Raw MAX exclusively. This is a raw capture with minimal tone and color changes. I cropped to this composition to emphasize her alert expression, the powerful hind quarters and the sassy tail swish. I created a background mask and applied lens blur and darkened to bring all focus to the mare. I also applied a B&W LUTS preset and pulled up the opacity to reveal a little color.Exif information:
