Black Hat Dancer
This is an image of a Black Hat Dancer taken at a festival in Central Bhutan in 2013. These dancers performance is meant to drive evil spirits from the festival area, and they work themselves into an almost trance like state. I was really pleased to be able to capture both the movement of the dance and the concentration in the dancer’s face.
Post processing notes:
I have been using ON1 since Apple Aperture stopped being supported. This image was edited using ON1 as follows - General adjustment of Tone and Colour; In Effects - Dynamic Contrast applied to dancer; Colour Enhancer to whole image to bring out reds and oranges; Glow to whole image; Colour Enhancer applied to part of dancer's sleeve to reduce blue colour and remove distraction; Big Softy vignette applied to reduce impact of background.Exif information:
