Barataria
This was captured with an iPhone on a mid winter trip to New Orleans in 1919. The image was shot while exploring the swamps south of the city in Barataria Nature Preserve at 2:45 pm – taking advantage of late afternoon light showing through the leafless vegetation and ribbons of Old Man’s Beard.
Post processing notes:
This particular image is an example of an older workflow where I typically began image corrections using Photoshop and then once I was pleased with those results, I imported the image into Photo Raw (these edits were done using a 2020 version). More recently, I've been diving more quickly in to the basics of the Develop module and using small percentages of Brilliance AI (personally, I find that it is too easy to overcook results). Also recently, I have been having really good results with NoNoise AI - above my previously preferred use of Topaz NoNoise and Sharpen products. I wish I could remember all the various filters and adjustments made for this photo (I'm really bad about saving them as a personal preset). As a general rule, I primarily start my ON1 edits working through some of my favorite presets, which allow me to quickly try out a variety of effects and possibilities before settling on what best matches my intention with an image. Presets and various LUTS are then tweaked incessantly, removing some of a specific preset's embedded filters, exchanging others, and layered upon one another until I get the final result. Most of my free edits tend more toward approximations of gum and antique looks, and then boosting specific colors within an image using mostly some or all of the following filters: Antique, LUTS, Color Enhancer, Cross Process, dynamic contrast, split tone, and textures. (I do miss on older preset/filter that disappeared a few years ago - Gum Bichromate.) I always finish my images with a border filter (sloppy borders are the bomb!). Note: borders were my first intro to using On1 products when I first found them well over a decade and a half ago.Exif information:
