A Look Ahead in ON1 Plus

Hi everyone! Back in July, we had this great Best of ON1 Plus in 2017 First Half recap. Since July we’ve had even more great stuff, including Matt’s Long Exposure Course in July and Blake’s incredible series on Artistry in ON1 Photo RAW. Along with all that we’ve had monthly photo critiques, multiple contests and challenges. Enough of the past, it’s time to look ahead at what’s on deck for the future for Plus.

In October Doug Landreth of Photomorphis was your guest coach, doing what they do best, showing creative compositing with various elements to create a work of art. Check out the Photomorphis Guide to Creativity »

Black & White Photography Course
ON1 Director of Product Dan Harlacher has been passionate about black and white photography going back to his days in the darkroom (he spent years working in a film processing lab). In this all-encompassing course, you will get a short history of black and white photography and learn everything you need to know about shooting and converting black and white using the latest modern digital technology.

Bird & Wildlife Photography Course
Hudson Henry is a seasoned bird and wildlife photographer having photographed many types of animals all across the world. This course will include in-the-field-shooting tips and post processing training, perfect for anyone that enjoys capturing natures wild.

New faces coming next year, new topics, new styles of coaching

Jim Welninski
The founder of Alteredspace photography, a multiple international award-winning fine art photographer living in Chicago. He is passionate about helping others find their “vision” for their work. What comes out of the camera is only a starting point. Teach people how to take photographs with meaning using your imagination.
James Brandon
James area of expertise is landscapes, outdoor & travel, as well as post processing in ON1. He lives in Texas with his wife Kristin and two sons who describes as his “entire world.” He is versed in ON1 apps and will bring a fresh new approach to the community next year!
Tamara Lackey
A renowned professional photographer, speaker, author and program host. Her authentic photography, from children’s portraits to humanitarian photography, is praised within her industry and published internationally. We’re excited to have her come educate on portrait and family photography next year!

Familiar faces returning

Matt Kloskowski
Who could forget the founder of ON1 Plus, of course, Matt will be back multiple times in 2018 doing what he does best—teaching photography and sharing his tips and tricks of editing that is easy to understand.
Hudson Henry
A constant presence in the community, Hudson will be back and covering all sorts of exciting new topics on the photography industry. Right now he is conceptualizing a big project for next year to accompany Approaching the Scene.
Blake Rudis
We’ve had some incredible month’s from Blake in the past and next year will be even better. Macro photography is a favorite style of photography for him, and he’ll share everything he knows with you next year.
Colby Brown
You probably remember Colby’s fantastic series on Storytelling. A truly unique educator, he’ll be back to expand on that topic and introduce new concepts.

More Courses next year, covering topics voted by you!

A core component of ON1 Plus is the in-depth training courses, along with all the great courses in the past there will be new themes and styles covered next year. These are topics that were voted on by the Plus members, topics including but not limited to:

  • Macro
  • City & Architecture
  • Panorama
  • HDR
  • Fine Art
  • and More

Bigger Contests
The contests and challenges will be bigger and better than ever. A broader judging panel with higher cash prizes and sponsorships. The contests will take place quarterly and with a longer submission period. Fun assignments to keep you engaged in improving all year long.
Live Events and Q&A’s
Exclusive Live Events and Editing sessions. Plus will host exclusive live events that will include editing sessions with Q&A from the audience.
Plus Experience
The Plus Dashboard is just the start, we have more website improvements coming! Our web developers have big plans for enhancing the Plus experience and we will continually be adding features to Plus throughout the year.
The rest of this year and 2018 looks very exciting! Not a member of ON1 Plus? Sign up today!

    Hallo,
I am in a hurry to see the courses about black and white and wildlife retouching.
When possible, can you please add zone system to black and white filter (even for color it is useful-see blake ZS) ? many people voted for it since it disappeared from perfect b&w plugin.
    best regards

Must say that On1 is taking me to the next level.
Post processing was not a strong point on mine but On1 is really getting me going. I’m almost off LR at this point (a serious objective of mine). I use LR (with the Mogrify plugin) to make borders and watermarks. I’m not up to speed with Resize yet so not sure how it compares with Mogrify/LR?

I use LR to make panoramas but I think PR is going to incorporate this feature then it’s buy buy LR

Thanks to ON1 for the awesome software you produce. Sometime ago I moved over to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. However I kept an eye on the changes in the ON1 software and recently made a decision to return and exit Adobe (boy do they fight to keep you). I am in awe of how much the On1 software has improved and I have to say I don’t miss Adobe. My plan is to lean learn learn and make use of the power of ON1. Keep it up ON1.
    Thanks, Clive (New Zealand based).

      My exact sediments….
I’ve been a Lightroom/Photoshop user since LM Ver 1. I also tried using Capture. But that was hard to grasp some of the concepts and the learning curve was very high. Needles to say, I dropped it and went back to LM. Then came along ON1. I’ve always been a sucker for new things and decided to give it try. Lots apprehension at first, so I held back and watched, played, watched some more and made comparisons. The more I played, things began to get simpler and my results were getting better. I began to feel as though I was once again in control of how I wanted to have my pictures look. ON1 has done an amazing job with their software and has provided some fantastic tools to allow photographers make their photos a work of art.

Been a plus member since the first available date, software user since the initial version. I need to be more involved in the Plus community but can’t seem to find the time to log in and participate. Keep moving forward and getting better. OnOne is my “go to” software for post processing. Thanks to all at OnOne for what they provide to photographers.

One thing i would love to see in On1 is the dehaze filter from Lightroom as thats the only thing missing from On1, I fell that once that is included then it will be the all round best photo dating software there could be and Adobe would be way behind On1, if there is a way to incorporate or a similar filter already in On1 then i would love to know how to execute it

There is a dehaze slider in the develop module.

In that Fine Art course, it will be interesting how you can pull it off unless you have added Camera Sensor Profiles to your Color Management. You need to make use of the Color Checker Passport or equivalent in your workflow.

I am new (as of early December) both the PhotoRAW and to the Plus community, having bailed out from Lightroom 5.7 and all things Adobe, initially sparked by their abandonment of perpetual licensing going forward (until then I’d been an Adobe user since about 2000). I had fond memories of your Mask Pro and Genuine Fractals plug-ins from earlier Adobe days, so I decided to check out what you are doing with Photo RAW and took advantage of your generous December promotional package. I am blown away by the quality of the Photo RAW product and by the range and quality of educational and coaching materials available both to the Plus community and to users generally. Not to mention your responsive tech support. I’m recommending your software and this community to those members of my local photography club (200+ members from beginners to pros) whether want a change from Adobe or who are starting out in digital photography from scratch.
