Background Export

Exporting in the background became available in version 2018.5. This is a great improvement. The problem is that the “switch” to change this setting is pretty well hidden. I could not find it and I had to ask support how to enable Background Exporting.

I suggest two things. 1. make it easier to find the setting to make the switch. 2. Set Background processing as the default.

I think that these changes would help many other users.

As always, I appreciate all that you are doing.

I had the same problem finding the switch. I am an instructor and all of my students don’t even know that hidden option is available.

Agreed, make this available to the 2019 too and batch on the background as default since it’s not available and it blocks the app completely and workflow will be stopped until the batch ends. While at it attribute shortcuts to them either (cmd+E) to normal export and (cmd+shit+e) or cmd+alt+e) to export in the background this for sure would be much easier and faster to everyone.

This essentiel feature exists in PR 2018 and is abandoned in PR 2019? Why?

    HI,

As some of you know, background exporting is available in 2019, but it must be enabled. To do this, when the Export Window is open and you are ready to do an export, click and hold down the Export button. You will be given the choice to use background export. Once you have selected background export, the setting seems to be sticky – background export will be the default setting until you decide to change it.

It sure would be nice if this setting were easier to find, and/or if you could use shortcut keys as has been suggested.

This is the problem: The drop down arrow is not displayed if the panel is not wide enough. So many people will not even see it. So I would rather use a checkbox to select this and/or make it an option in the “Preferences”.

Further more: there should be at least a progress bar to show that the background export is running.
