About the ON1 Photo RAW Project

The ON1 Photo RAW Project gives you the chance to be a part of what we're developing at ON1. You have a voice in the future of photo editing. Your ideas will help us deliver the best available apps for photography, give us insight into what's most important, and help spark innovation.

You must log in to submit an idea. The Photo RAW Project Exposed

Share Your Ideas

Share your ideas for new Photo RAW features. Make sure you write a convincing description. Remember, people won't be able to give an idea a high rating unless they understand the idea completely.

Tell Your Friends

With supporters, your ideas will get higher ratings. In fact, tell everyone you know to support your idea. The more ratings an idea gets, the more likely it will be sent to our product development team.

ON1 Will Review It

After an idea reaches 200 ratings with a 3-star or higher rating, the project team will review the details and begin asking questions. We can't put every good idea into development, but we'll try!

We are working with users on how this should work.

When exporting files in JPEG format,  I don’t see the approximate file size at my chosen quality level.  This is important since quality and file size are obvious trade-offs, and I usually aim for about 4 MB files (depending on intended use).  Since file size is not available, my only recourse is trial and error...

I have a lot of Lightroom presets, and I am sure that others the have worked with that software does also. Some I purchased, some I created. I would be nice if you could develop a Preset Migration Tool, that would allow you to import and use a lightroom presets in Photo RAW. Maybe even...

The current Transform module sorely lacks the ability to scale X and Y differently (this capability does exist in Lightroom). It is very important when performing perspective correction (e.g. straightening architectural elements), as the result will often seem unnaturally “squashed” in one of the dimensions after applying Vertical and/or Horizontal non-zero settings. In Lightroom, when...

Everyone’s taking videos. Videos have great value for Social Media as people share with friends, family about their interests, adventures, vacations, etc. So how about the ability to edit videos in ON1 and a ways to post in social media? Photoshop CC has a platform that lets the user work with a timeline to make...

When I add a texture I can modify the saturation, brightness and hue shift. One feature that would help to add some textures like clouds and walls more realistically would be to add some kind of blur to the texture, so that it looks like the clouds or walls are out of focus. Also when...

My primary drive is a solid-state drive (SSD). My secondary drive is a hard disk drive (HDD). To save space on one’s SSD, it would be nice if one would be able to specify the storage location of one’s imported ON1 presets. Indeed, even though preset files are rather small by themselves, they required quite...

Transform in the Develop component is a great addition. However, it’s very basic at this point in time. At a very minimum, it would be helpful if there was a grid overlay to assist you  in determining when you’ve gone far enough (e.g., when the sides of buildings are vertical). Currently, it’s all “by eye.” Better...

You already have the invert command for masks but, for some reason, you do not have it for images and layers, I think you should add it as a matter of urgency. The invert is important to me for two reasons, first I scan negatives producing a .dng file that I then want to process in...

I think filters should be available in other panes and not only Browse. With this and ability to flag photos as rejected I could hide photos in develop. I do that often in Lightroom and delete files only when the project is finished, but in Photo RAW even I filter photos Browse they show again...

I have a lot of presets which I made or downloaded from On1 website and elsewhere. The list is getting longer and longer. It would be great to be able to rearrange or group presets. For example group presets by kind (B&W, vintage, etc., downloaded, own, etc.). These groups should also be able to be...

Dunno about you but I find that gray font on dark gray (almost black) background impossible to use. We need a way to select different color schemes for the UI…not just the Preview bg.

The reason this was and is an issue for me is I do a lot of astrophotography, and use astronomy program to stack images for a more detailed finished image, so take multiple images (20 to 40 images), apply the same edits/effects, but need to crop them down to a smaller size, but the same...

The use of PR LAYERS most often implies masking one or more layers. Besides, these layers shall be adjusted in tone, color, and effects (in PR DEVELOP and/or EFFECTS) to get an appropriate global balance/harmony between them. At present, new (additional) masking is necessary in DEVELOP/EFFECTS for that purpose (if not  a “guess and try”...

Currently, My Extras allows only JPEG files to be imported for custom backgrounds and textures. That implies pre-processing the photos and limiting additional processing once a background or texture is incorporated into the main photo. Being able to import RAW or DNG files would allow specific processing to match the main photo and produce a more coherent...

Currently I do a lot of my editing in Lightroom, but would very much like to reverse that process, and possibly use RAW as the go to standalone editor. Part of that process is adding ratings, flags or other things that could be used as filters — also location information, etc. To save that added...

In Photo Raw, presets can be managed : via a right click on a selected preset for updating, deleting or renaming a preset , via the export-import mechanism for moving a preset from one category to another Similar actions on preset category is impossible, so that an empty category would stay forever, except through reinstalling...

I do advanced portrait retouching. The tools I use most are Dodge and Burn, the clone tool, and frequency separation, with some tone mapping. This is all after basic corrections like exposure, color, and clean up of blemishes etc. The most important function for the brush tool that seems to be missing is Flow Control....

I’d like to see better organization in Albums other then alphabetical. Topic headings would be a good idea. Move away from a flat file config. I made 4 albums using EXIF info to sort on 4 file types. Woked great, They were in alphabetical order. Then added an Album for Author Problem is is this...

I have VERY many presets (ONEffects file format) prior to OnOne RAW (original or downloaded). I had backed them up by manually copying the files (and the subfolders I had organized them in within Effects) to another directory/drive. Whereas these presets DID migrate to OnOneRAW’s new ONP file format, now the names of the files/presets...

Like many professional photographers that work with wire services, I need to follow their standards when sending live photos to the wire. It would be great if in “Effects,” we could modify/append names – similar to the layer stack – but for effects filters or presets names something like this example: “ADJUSTMENT BRUSH_fence shadow burn”, or “COLOR ENHANCER_remove orange_fence”. This way if you had many filter layers, you don’t have to hunt for which filter you used...

I’ve used On1 prods for about as long as On1 has existed, and have collected gazillions of presets (many from On1’s generous sharing).  But now, my preset panel is starting to look like my contact list – long and not necessary organized intuitively.  And, I see that there are others on the blog that share...

Not sure if this is already implemented in the new software. I may have seen mention of it in the latest video. One thing that has driven me nuts in on1 Photo are the way you implement your Filters/Effects. The Filters controls are very unlike Photoshop and unintuitive. I see that I have the filters stacked...

Since PhotoRAW is said to really truly harp on speed, I for one would find it extremely beneficial and much more enjoyable to have the ability to hit the “F” key from within the browse grid view and go entirely fullscreen with our image and nothing else.. no tabs on this side, menu bar removed,...
