A Sneak Peek at Foreground and Background Masking

Creating accurate masks of the foreground and background allows for detailed editing of specific areas of an image. For example, let’s say you want to adjust the color of the sky in a landscape photo without affecting the color of your subject in the foreground. Well, in ON1 Photo RAW 2023.5, you can create a mask of the foreground and apply the adjustment only to the background. If you want to use a specific effect on a portrait photo while keeping the background untouched, you can create a mask of the person and apply the adjustment only to that area. These new options for Mask AI are coming in ON1 Photo RAW 2023.5 (early June) make it easier to create these masks, improving the overall editing experience. Other improvements will include Face Recovery in the Resize module, a new masking tool, an enhanced Refine Mask brush, and more.
