Let’s face it, no matter how hard we try we can’t always be in the right place at the right time. One of the most frequent questions I hear from the Plus community is how do I work in harsh mid-day light. Last month in Cuba while scouting for a 2020 workshop, I wound up in a spectacular spot about an hour too late without a cloud in the sky to diffuse to intense backlight in my scene. In this video, I’ll talk you through my field capture method and editing process in Photo RAW 2019 for this type of situation. We’ll talk sunstars, bracketing, and choosing when to employ HDR or not. Spoiler, the key is to consider the edit as you capture the image. Hit me with any questions in the comments here or find me in the Ask a Coach forum anytime.
