Since my earliest days of using Photo RAW, even the Perfect Photo Suite before it really, I’ve been blown away by the power and usefulness of Effects Presets. They are so much better in Photo RAW than other editing software because they leave your underlying raw processing sacrosanct instead of only applying finishing edit touches to transform your well-processed image to get “the look” you’re after. By dissecting presets you like, you can see how the preset author edits to create that desired look. With time you can adapt your collection of presets to fit your own style, edit and save them as your own. Presets are one of the most overlooked learning tools and a tremendous time saver in the final editing process. In this video I’ll dive deep into presets to illustrate all of this this using some images from my family’s recent trip to Manhattan.
