Hey ON1 Plus crew! My name is Colby Brown and I am super excited to return as an ON1 guest coach this month. While I am sure most of you have seen any number of ON1 Videos, ebooks or photo kits I have put together over the years, I am sure we have some fresh faces here as well. For the last 12 years, I have been working as a photographer, photo educator and author in the photo industry, specializing in landscape, travel and wildlife photography.
During that time I have worked for National Geographic, led workshops all over the globe and started The Giving Lens (www.thegivinglens.com), an organization that believes photography and art can truly change the world.
So now that we are all caught up, let’s talk a little bit about what you should expect this month. With ON1 Photo RAW 2019, I am sure many of you have realized that it is an insanely powerful photo editing software that contains a ton of tools that you can learn to leverage, from the very basic to some pretty incredible advanced techniques. But where do you start?
Over the course of my career, I have realized that there are three different levels or stages of post-processing that we have all gone through at one point or another. It is those three stages that we are going to focus on this month!
What can you expect?
Expect to watch me edit up to 8 images from Start to Finish this month as I explain my entire thought process at each step.

• • In week one, we are going to do a deep dive into Global Adjustments. We are going to talk about what they are, how they work, what benefits they have and where do they fall short. Also, the Photo Critique submission is open December 4th-11th.
  • In week two, I am going to show you the value and importance of taking advantage of more localized adjustments to your images. We will talk about when to make the adjustments, why they are so important and touch on the creative side of post-processing.
  • During week three, we will dive into the more advanced processing techniques found in ON1 Photo RAW. From understanding layer mask to creating luminosity masks and even blending various different elements of different images together.
  • Luckily for us, for week four, it is Christmas/Holiday time, giving all of some extra time to rewatch the three videos this month.

All in all, this is going to be one awesome month here at On1 Photo Plus! I hope you are as excited as I am to get started!

When most of us first get interested in learning how to process our images, we almost universally tend to start off with what is called global adjustments. But what are they and how can they be used to create impactful images? We are going to start off the first week of my take over of On1 Plus as a Guest Coach looking into the pros and cons of Global Adjustments before moving on to more advanced adjustments later in the month.
